The Seasons of Showing Up

Showing up isn’t always consistent in the way we expect it to be. There are seasons where it feels easy, where energy is high, schedules align and opportunities seem to come naturally. And then there are seasons where showing up looks different. It may feel quieter, less visible or more intentional. Over time, I’ve learned that both seasons matter.

In community and event spaces, it’s easy to associate showing up with visibility. Being at every event, every meeting, every gathering can feel like progress. But showing up isn’t just about being present everywhere. It’s about being intentional with where and how you invest your time. Some seasons require a full calendar, while others call for focus, reflection or prioritizing fewer commitments more deeply.

There are also seasons of growth that happen behind the scenes. Times when you’re building skills, strengthening relationships or preparing for what’s next. These seasons may not feel as visible, but they are often the ones that create the strongest foundation. They remind you that consistency isn’t about constant activity; it’s about continued commitment over time.

Understanding the seasons of showing up also requires flexibility. What you’re able to give in one season may look different in another. Priorities shift, responsibilities change and energy levels fluctuate. Recognizing that allows you to approach your commitments with more intention and less pressure to maintain the same pace at all times.

Over time, showing up becomes less about frequency and more about alignment. It’s about choosing the spaces where you can contribute meaningfully and being fully present when you’re there. Both visible and quieter seasons play a role in shaping your growth, your relationships and your impact.

As you reflect on your own commitments, consider what season you’re in right now. Where does it make sense to show up more, and where might it be time to step back and focus more intentionally?
